Gail Thackray, the former Playboy model and B movie actress (aka Gail Harris) just penned a Hollywood-Sexy Biz, tell-all book that spans three decades from the 80’s and 90’s through the advent of naked pics on the Internet.
Her stunning daughter Rachel T Harris followed in her mother’s modelling footsteps becoming the November 2015 Playmate.
Gail’s humorous but shocking book covers her “wannabe” movie star days when the casting couch was ripe in Hollywood, as well as fond memories of Hef and her time at the Playboy Mansion. Gail was a regular model for the Playboy Agency, being the face of the Playboy Channel intro and enjoying being a hostess at the Mansion Movie Nights.
She recalls Hef as “Sweet, charming, and a more reserved gentleman than one would expect, and I thought him suave and sophisticated. He exuded power and influence with a soft tender side that could make any girl feel the most special in the world.”
Gail reveals her time as a scream queen starlet starring in a slew of Roger Corman B movies and Quentin Tarantino’s Personal Favorite “Cell Block Sisters.”
At only 19, Gail started a side-line business working behind the camera with London photographers shooting nude photo layouts and by the time the Internet was invented, Gail owned the rights to over a million naked photos, comprising of thousands of girls including a few celebrities. It’s these celebrities and several others featured in the book that are trying to get the book banned.
“I could have sugar coated the stories,” says Gail, “but then there’d be nothing left!” she laughs.
It’s an explosive book with jaw-dropping stories; like how she ended up working for the Mob. It is filled with scandalous revelations such as shopping sexy pics of a famous Billionaire’s wife with attorney Keith Davidson who recently represented Stormy Daniels in the hush money payoff to Michael Cohen for President Trump. And if you’re surprised that Kim Kardashian confessed she was on drugs during the making of her sex tape, wait until you read the story of another celebrity sex tape, where the star overdosed on drugs and almost died in the John Belushi room at the Chateau Marmont.
The book is an incredible insider view of the industry from soft-core magazines to the advent of the Internet and a comparison with “mainstream” Hollywood. Still, this is not about a woman as a victim, dishing out the dirt on powerful men in Hollywood, it’s actually a light-hearted, often hilarious look at the real inner workings of a male-dominated-industry.
“Sometimes real life is so absurd, it’s hysterical, and you just can’t make this stuff up,” explains Gail.
In the era of the me too movement, Gail emerges as a strong woman who manages to hold her own in a man’s world.
“It’s raw, it’s juicy, it’s hilariously funny,” say readers.
Fast forward to 2015. Gail’s daughter, Rachel, is a budding artist in Los Angeles and it was at one of her art exhibitions that Rachel was approached by a representative for Playboy.
“Rachel asked me what I thought about her posing and I said, ‘Playboy is a beautiful magazine, and you have an incredible body, absolutely do it!’ I suggested she ask Playboy if they would mention she was an artist. Playboy actually did the entire layout in the studio surrounded by Rachel’s paintings. The centerfold was incredible, and Rachel went on to do many appearances for Playboy. She is now a pretty successful artist,” Gail says proudly of her daughter.
Rachel T Harris recently exhibited at the prestigious Art Basel Miami and has been commissioned to do paintings for several celebrities, including most recently Elon Musk.
“I was really cringing about Rachel reading the book,” Gail says. “It’s pretty juicy and there are some hot love scenes. But Rachel absolutely loved it.”
Rachel’s take on the book;
“My mom’s a dynamo and she taught me a lot about business. I loved the book, I literally couldn’t put it down. I’m so proud of her for writing it. It’s a crazy story but I know it’s true, I lived a lot of it!”
Today, Gail is currently in talks with producers to turn her sexy story into a TV series. The first taker was originally Harvey Weinstein, one week before his scandal broke out. Still it looks like we’ll be able to see it as a TV mini-series pretty soon.
